Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Resizing happens inside your browser, so your image never leaves your device.
Which formats are supported?
JPG, PNG and WebP. By default the resized image keeps the original format; you can also save it as JPG, PNG or WebP.
Is the Image Resizer free?
Yes. It is free to use and does not need an account.
How do I resize an image to an exact size, such as 1080 × 1080 px?
Type the width and the height in pixels (whole numbers from 1 to 10,000). The aspect ratio is locked at first, so the other side follows. Unlock it to set both sides freely, but the image can then look stretched. For a square without stretching, crop the image to 1:1 with the Image Cropper first, then resize it here.
Will resizing make my image blurry?
Making an image smaller uses your browser’s high-quality smoothing. Making it bigger cannot add detail, so a big enlargement looks soft. JPG and WebP are saved at 92 % quality; PNG stays lossless.
Can I set the file size in KB?
No. The Image Resizer sets the size in pixels, not in KB. A smaller pixel size usually gives a smaller file, but it is not matched to a KB target. To reach a size such as 100 KB, use the Image Compressor.
