What the notice says, and where
- The notice itself gives no KB or pixel size. The file format (JPG/JPEG), the size (20 to 300 KB) and the pixels (350 × 350 minimum, 1000 × 1000 maximum) come from UPSC's own candidate FAQ, questions 43 and 44: https://upsconline.gov.in/upsc/OTRP/candidate/faq.php. Its text covers the photograph and the signature alike.
- The notice (Note 2, PDF pages 2 and 17 to 18) asks you to upload your photograph and also capture a live photograph in the form. Note 3 asks you to sign three times, one below the other, on plain white paper with black ink.
- The crop sizes in the tool (photo 700 × 900 px, signature 900 × 600 px for the three signatures) are our suggestion inside the pixel range; UPSC does not give them.
- The dates are those of the 2026 notice: it is dated 04.02.2026 and the last date for online applications is 24.02.2026 (till 6:00 PM, PDF page 3). The notice gives no separate opening date. A notice for 2027 was not out when this page was checked.
Questions
What is the UPSC Civil Services photo and signature size in KB?
UPSC's candidate FAQ (questions 43 and 44) says each scanned image of the photograph and the signature is JPG/JPEG, not more than 300 KB and not less than 20 KB, from 350 × 350 to 1000 × 1000 pixels. The 2026 notice itself gives no KB size. Source: https://upsconline.gov.in/upsc/OTRP/candidate/faq.php, checked 3 Nov 2026. If the notice changes, the notice is right.
Do I upload a photo or capture one for UPSC?
Both. The 2026 notice (Note 2, PDF pages 2 and 17 to 18) says applicants upload their photograph and also capture a live photograph while filling in the form. This tool makes the uploaded file; the live photo is taken in the form.
How do I sign for the UPSC form?
The 2026 notice (Note 3, PDF page 18) says to sign three times, one below the other, on plain white paper with black ink. The tool starts with a 900 × 600 px frame for the three lines, our suggestion inside the 350 to 1000 px range.
